Amelia Crislip

Assistant Trainer

Amelia Claire was born in New York City, and raised in Hell’s Kitchen, until moving to Pennington, New Jersey in her Kindergarten year. In fifth grade, a classmate introduced her to the world of horses. Her interest grew quickly into a lifelong passion. She took weekly riding lessons, always hungry for more. Whenever possible, she sought out working student opportunities in order to secure more time in the saddle and exposure to horses. She had wonderful trainers who taught her excellent horsemanship and fueled her love for the sport. Her childhood trainer was Susan Van Blarcom of Summerfield Farm. She spent her summers with Kimberly Wickenden. She was a Dean’s List student, but found herself bouncing around colleges, searching for a passion that rivaled her love of riding. She finally settled on Environmental Studies at Temple University in Philadelphia. She participated in IHSA, but swiftly lost interest when she embraced her dream of a professional riding career. She began training under Jamie Maillet as his assistant trainer. She has a dedicated and thoughtful program which develops fit, rideable, and confident horses for competitive show jumping. She works closely with Jamie to coach riders and facilitate successful partnerships with suitable mounts. She owns one mare, Lachat, with whom she hopes to jump a grand prix in the not too distant future.
